No one wishes for rain on their wedding day, so why is it often referred to as good luck? On the big day, ‘you’ll tie the knot,’ linking together two individual ropes that will forever be tied. A wet knot is tough to unravel; rain on the wedding day insinuates that the marriage will last. Sarah and Greg’s wedding day was the luckiest as they wed in the middle of Hurricane Julia.
Hurricane Julia isn’t the only storm in their love story. The two met in New Orleans, Louisiana, shortly after Hurricane Katrina. As the city was rebuilt and began to flourish, so did they- eventually spreading their wings and taking a leap to Fairfield, Connecticut, where Greg is originally from.
Although originally from upstate New York, Sarah firmly planted her roots in Fairfield and knew that it was the perfect place to marry Greg. They wed on October 1, 2022, at Greg’s uncle’s estate in Fairfield, Connecticut. Despite getting married in the middle of a hurricane, no amount of hell or high water could dampen this momentous occasion.
Their love story has always been surrounded by water, as they’ve always lived by the beach, and their big day was no different. Flowers, linens, and tablescapes colored the details of their wedding day in celestial blue and rosy mauve, notably highlighted in a custom watercolor logo created by the bride herself.
Anything can happen on your wedding day- expect the unexpected, they say! Even in the midst of a hurricane, nothing interrupted or got the better of this beautiful couple. Wishing them both lifetimes of love and happiness- they have enough luck for eternity.
